Production/Material Planner
### Description
The Production/Material Planner is responsible for setting the overall level of manufacturing output and related activities to best satisfy the current planned levels of sales while meeting general business goals of profitability, productivity, competitive customer lead times, etc. as expressed in the overall business plan.
Reports to: Plant Manager
### Essential Duties
* Ensures that purchased and manufactured materials are available for production in a timely, cost-effective manner.
* Schedules production requirements in the manufacturing shop utilizing the MRP System and build-to-order philosophies.
* Assists to reduce material lead times and manufacturing cycle times in order to support MRP/build-to-order shop requirements.
* Serves as liaison between Sales, Marketing, and Manufacturing in allocating shop capacity in support of the current sales plan.
* Maintains MRP data required to correctly reflect the capacity planning systems (manpower, efficiency rates, utilization rates, etc.).
* Provides direct support to manufacturing supervision in balancing forecast/firm order demands, impact of requested schedule changes, and impact of new process instructions.
* Assists Engineering in the maintenance of BOM's and Routers.
* Issues periodic reports reflecting manufacturing performance, capacity loads, schedules, etc.
* Assists in keeping inventory at minimal levels through inventory control methods such as review safety stock levels and other multiples for specific items.
* Places purchase orders with suppliers as required to ensure proper flow of materials.
* Reviews the impact of ECOs on the production schedule and materials to minimize the cost of the changes.
* Analyses and responds to MRP messages to determine proper material flow to support production.
* Monitors balances on Blanket Orders and advises Buyer(s) when to initiate a new Blanket Order.
* Enters Transfer Orders after evaluation stock availability at the other Basler facility.
* Assists in resolving packing slip/receiving issues.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
### Requirements
Non-Physical
* Business or Associate's degree preferred or related experience in an MRP shop.
* Minimum two years of experience in production planning/control and purchasing/scheduling roles.
* Working knowledge of automated MRP systems.
* Proficient with PCs.
* Good oral and written communication skills.
Physical
* Sitting for long periods.
* Occasional lifting of files and boxes (approximately 5 to 20 lbs).
